Over the past few years we have seen the housing and financial markets struggle and ultimately fail, requiring a bail out from the federal government. These events coupled with other issues have caused many to lose confidence in the American economy as well as its leaders. The President and Congress have historically low job approval ratings. This is due primarily to the fact that American's feel like they are not being heard. MySpace, Twitter, & Facebook along with other social media have taught us one important concept. People enjoy being heard.
Have you ever thought, "If I could speak to Congress or the President, I would say.....?" How would you feel if you were sent a personal invitation to address America's leaders that was also broadcast live to the entire nation? A reasonable person would know their address should be open, honest, and most importantly, respectful. These are dignitaries of one of the most powerful nations in the world after all.
That is what God is promising you here. He has issued you an "open mic" should you decide to use it in a way that grants Him the honor He is due. Praying, or asking, according to His will is an act of honor whereby you share your heart in a manner that respects His authority. He is God, the Creator of the universe after all. His will is not some mystical and nebulous theology but it is what He has already shown you through His Word and Spirit. Pray in light of what you already know about God and you can have confidence He hears what your are saying.
